Founded in 1993 by Kai Vogler, Peter Bruns and Jan Vogler, whose inspiration was the famous \u201cMarlboro Festival\u201d in the USA, the Moritzburg Festival considers itself a laboratory for musical experimentation while also offering a home to excellence. Under the artistic directorship of the world-renowned cellist and Echo Award winner Jan Vogler, it has established itself as one of the world\u2019s leading chamber music festivals.<\/p>\n<p>Every August, internationally renowned soloists and outstanding young artists from all over the world meet in idyllic Moritzburg near Dresden. Since 1997 the Moritzburg Festival has featured a composer-in-residence; in the past, this position has been held by composers including Wolfgang Rihm, Sofia Gubaidulina, Esa-Pekka Salonen and J\u00f6rg Widmann, among others.<\/p>\n<p>However, outstanding musicality must be safeguarded for the future. Support for rising young artists is one of the Moritzburg Festival\u2019s central concerns.
