 JAN'S SUMMER HIGHLIGHTS

Following another very successful Dresden Music Festival, Jan is looking forward to challenging summer with performances in  Stuttgart, Baden-Baden, Ingolstadt and Bad Lauchstaedt, In August he performs at the Festival de Lanaudière in Joliette, Quebec where he joins violinist and friend James Ehnes in the Brahms Double Concerto for Violin and Cello, and Montreal Symphony Orchestra conducted by Kent Nagano. August is always a busy month for Jan. As the Artistic Director of the Moritzburg Chamber Music Festival, he works with the Festival Academy preparing the young musicians for their festival performances and performs himself in several concerts.  SUPERSONIC AWARD FOR BACH RECORDING

Jan Vogler wins a Pizzicato Supersonic Award for his recording of Bach’s Cello suites.  SPARKING OPENING FOR 2013 DRESDEN FESTIVAL

On Monday night, May 13, orchestra-in-residence, the New York Philharmonic led by Music Director Alan Gilbert opened the 2013 Dresden Music Festival in a concert featuring works by Mozart, Schelomo and Mussorgsky. Festival Artistic Director Jan Vogler was the soloist in Schelomo’s Hebrew Rhapsody – a work he performed earlier this season in New York with the New York Philharmonic. The New York Times praised his “soulful, richly hued playing highlighted the piece’s melancholy traits, with the plaintive solo cello line embodying the voice of the biblical King Solomon.” (New York Times).
